Digitalization impacts all types of companies in all sectors of activity. It offers considerable opportunities to everyone and each person must learn how to become a digital player in order to remain competitive. Moreover, technological innovations represent real assets for many fields and this is why they have been adopted. Eminence, your digital marketing expert, reveals how and why artificial intelligence has become an essential solution in the healthcare field.

Healthcare: An Ever-Growing Sector Thanks to Technology

Artificial intelligence is a system with the intelligence of a human that performs multiple and varied tasks. In the field of medicine, this technology has been trained to detect certain diseases, pathologies and to analyze medical results in order to provide more accurate and effective medical care to sick people. As a result, AI has become an indispensable and valuable tool, offering new opportunities for confirming a diagnosis and providing faster patient care.

AI also entered the surgical field. Indeed, computer-assisted operations have appeared and with them, articulated arms directed by a surgeon thanks to 3D vision, which offer even more manoeuvrability and precision than the surgeon himself. As far as radiology is concerned, AI has enabled precision in the interpretation of images via ultrasounds, MRIs or scanners in order to have reliable and precise diagnoses for mammography, screening for diabetic retinopathy and pulmonary anomalies. As for the therapeutic field, AI is considered an essential aid in the development of new drugs. In fact, from several sources of databases, AI makes it possible to predict the potential effects of certain new drugs on patients, making it possible to personalize treatment according to medical profiles.

The best AI innovations that have shaken up the healthcare field!

Thanks to artificial intelligence, a personalized medicine adapted to the needs of each individual is born. From now on, doctors can choose the most suitable treatment by cross-SEO the patient’s personal data, like place of birth, consumption habits, genetic mutations with their databases.

Eminence present you the three great achievements of Artificial Intelligence:

Recently, a study conducted by the University of San Francisco showed that AI is now able to detect Alzheimer’s disease on average 6 years before doctors.

This news could help to make an early diagnosis of this disease which currently affects about 900,000 people in France and is the fourth leading cause of death in the world. This revolution will increase the effectiveness of the drugs that exist today to fight Alzheimer’s and halt its progression.

Doctors today face a growing crisis because of the number of pathogens becoming resistant to existing antibiotics.

For this purpose, MIT has designed an AI capable of creating powerful antibiotics by itself thanks to the learning machine.

The researchers in charge of this project built on old machine learning databases that focused on the recognition of molecular structures and their particular capabilities. This enabled the AI to be trained to identify all types of molecules capable of killing bacteria.

Together, Google researchers and Northwestern University Hospital have created a new AI that can detect lung cancer from screening tests. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death, killing more than two million people a year. But how does this AI help diagnose this disease?

Indeed, the AI system uses volumetric 3D deep learning to analyze the complete anatomy of the rib cage and detect areas with malignant lesions.

The results, compared with those of six certified radiologists, showed that the programme detected 5% more cancer cases than the radiologists and also reduced false positives by 11%.

Although the model still requires further clinical research and testing before it can be deployed, Google says the results are encouraging.
