Overview

Managing a professional presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, or TikTok by constantly switching between each platform’s native applications is a significant waste of time and often leads to inconsistent editorial management.

Since our previous article on this topic, the landscape has changed considerably: several tools have updated their pricing, others have dropped out of the race, and a new generation of AI-powered solutions has emerged to automate content creation.

Here is our updated selection of 9 tools, featuring a comprehensive comparison and our agency’s expert opinion on each one.

Social media management tools comparison table

With so many platforms available, selecting the right social media management tool can be challenging. This comparison table provides a clear overview of the leading solutions to help you identify the one that best matches your goals, budget, and workflow.

X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) US$40/month (Premium+) Multi-column dashboards remain valuable for real-time monitoring on X Expensive paywall since March 2026, supports only one network Professionals who specifically rely on X
Google Analytics 4 Free Detailed measurement of traffic generated by social media, native integrations Not a publishing tool, learning curve Tracking the business performance of social media
Publer Free (3 accounts) / from US$5/month Very generous free plan, Canva and Unsplash integrations Advanced features reserved for paid plans Content creators and small teams with limited budgets
Metricool Free / from €14–26/month Scheduling, analytics, and advertising management in a single platform Additional fees for certain X accounts Freelancers managing multiple client accounts
Predis.ai From US$19–32/month (credits) AI generation of posts, visuals, and videos from a simple prompt Credit-based system can be restrictive, no social listening Small teams looking to produce content quickly

Why use a social media management tool?

Publishing manually on each platform, replying to comments one by one,  and compiling your analytics in a spreadsheet quickly becomes inefficient as soon as you manage multiple accounts or multiple clients. A social media management tool allows you to:

  • Centralize publishing across all social networks from a single dashboard, with the ability to schedule posts in advance.
  • Maintain a consistent editorial strategy through a shared content calendar accessible to all team members.
  • Measure the actual performance of each publication (reach, engagement, and generated traffic) instead of relying on intuition.
  • Save time on content creation thanks to artificial intelligence features now integrated into most platforms (caption writing, visual generation, and optimal posting time recommendations).
  • Respond more quickly to comments and direct messages through unified inboxes.

This last point has evolved the most since 2023: generative AI has moved from being a marketing gimmick to becoming a core feature, capable of saving social media teams several hours every week.

1.Hootsuite

Still one of the most comprehensive tools on the market, Hootsuite covers publishing, social listening (monitoring more than 150 million sources), and  performance analytics across approximately thirty social networks. Its AI assistant, OwlyWriter, generates captions and automatically repurposes top-performing content.

What has changed

Hootsuite has discontinued its free  plan. Individual users should now expect to pay approximately US$19 per month, with pricing increasing rapidly for teams.

Our expert opinion: Hootsuite remains an excellent default choice for SMEs looking for an all-in-one  solution without multiplying software  subscriptions.

At Eminence, we primarily recommend it to clients managing four or more social networks who require a robust competitive social listening capability.

2.Sprout Social

Sprout Social is clearly designed for medium-sized and large organizations, offering advanced sentiment analysis through AI Assist and automatically generated executive reporting.

What has changed

The entry-level price has increased to US$199 per user per month, making the platform difficult to justify for smaller organizations.

Why the Eminence agency recommends this tool: We recommend Sprout Social only for brands with a substantial social media budget and genuine multi- market reputation management needs. For the majority of our SME clients, the cost-to-value ratio is less favorable than alternatives such as Agorapulse or Hootsuite.

3.Agorapulse

Agorapulse stands out with a particularly well- designed  unified inbox for managing comments and private messages across all social networks, along with a reporting module tailored for agencies working with multiple clients.

What has changed

An AI assistant has been added to the unified inbox for advanced plans, and the platform continues to offer a limited free plan (3 social profiles and 10 scheduled posts), allowing users to test the platform before subscribing.

Our  expert opinion: This is often our number one recommendation for agencies and community managers who spend most of their time engaging with audiences rather than simply scheduling posts.

4.Buffer

Buffer remains the benchmark for simplicity, offering a clean interface, an intuitive setup that takes only a few minutes, and a free plan that genuinely allows users to manage three social accounts without ever reaching for a credit card.

What has changed

Buffer's AI writing assistant is now included even in the free plan, making it one of the best free tools available for generating social media captions.

Why the Eminence agency recommends this tool: Perfect for freelancers, small non-profit organizations, and businesses just beginning to build their social media presence and looking for a tool without unnecessary complexity.

5.X Pro (formerlyTweetDeck)

Important note

The tool formerly known as TweetDeck, now called X Pro, underwent a major change in March 2026. It is now available exclusively to subscribers of X Premium+, priced at US$40 per month, compared with US$8 previously, an increase of nearly 400%, introduced without prior notice for existing users.

What has changed

The platform now supports only one social network  (X), while its price has become disproportionate to its primary function: displaying multiple real-time monitoring columns.

Our expert opinion:We no longer recommend X Pro as a social media management solution for our clients, except in very specific cases where real-time monitoring on X is essential. For publishing content and tracking performance on X, a multi-platform solution such as Agorapulse, Hootsuite, or Buffer more than meets the need at a significantly lower cost.

6.Google Analytics 4

A social media management tool can never replace  a tool dedicated to measuring the traffic generated to your website.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which has permanently replaced the former Universal Analytics, enables organizations to accurately track the behavior of visitors arriving from social media, including:

  • Page views
  • Conversion rates
  • Purchase journeys

Why the Eminence agency recommends this tool: Free and indispensable, GA4 should be connected to your social media campaigns to measure true return on investment (ROI), going far beyond likes and shares, which reveal little about actual business impact.

7.Publer

Publer has established itself over the past two years as one of the most affordable alternatives to Sprout Social and Hootsuite, offering a free plan that supports three social media accounts along with practical integrations with Canva and Unsplash for visual content creation.

Our expert opinion: Publer offers excellent value for money for small teams seeking features comparable to premium platforms such as visual scheduling and content recycling without paying premium prices.

8.Metricool

Metricool combines content scheduling, analytics, and advertising campaign management (Meta Ads and Google Ads) within a single  platform. Its pricing is based on brands rather than users, providing a significant advantage for growing teams.

Why the  Eminence agency recommends this tool:

Metricool is particularly well suited to freelancers and small agencies managing multiple client accounts who want to avoid the rapidly increasing per- user costs charged by competing platforms.

9.Predis.ai :The NextGeneration AI Tool

Predis.ai belongs to a new generation of AI-powered platforms where artificial intelligence does far more than suggest captions, it generates complete social media posts, including visuals, copy, and hashtags, from a simple natural language prompt.

The platform also provides automated competitor analysis

How it works

Predis.ai operates on a credit-based system (starting at US$19–32  per month), with credits consumed each time a post, carousel, or video is generated.

Our expert opinion: Predis.ai is highly effective for quickly producing a first draft of content when time or inspiration is limited. However, the visual output still has room  for improvement and often requires human refinement before publication. It should be viewed as a production accelerator rather than a replacement for a community manager.

Which social media management tool should you choose based on your budget?

  • No budget (CHF 0/month): Buffer, Publer, or Metricool cover the essentials through their free plans, making them ideal for freelancers or small non-profit organizations managing two to three social accounts.
  • SME/Agency budget (CHF 20–100/month): Agorapulse and Hootsuite provide the best balance between features and pricing for teams managing multiple social networks and requiring a true unified inbox.
  • AI-first budget (CHF 20–50/month): Predis.ai is well suited to teams looking to scale visual content production using generative AI.
  • Enterprise budget (CHF 150/month and above): Sprout Social remains the benchmark for large brands that require advanced sentiment analysis and executive-level reporting.

    Our final recommendation

The best tool is not necessarily the most well-known. It is the one that matches  your organization's level of maturity, content production volume, internal workflow, and marketing objectives.

A brand that publishes three times a week does not have the same requirements as a multi-brand organization, an e-commerce business, or a social  media team operating with internal approval processes.

At Eminence, we always recommend selecting a tool based on your actual strategy

    • The number of social networks you manage
    • Your need for responsiveness
    • The level of analytics you require
    • The role of AI in your content production process
    • Your available budget

It is this alignment between the right tool, the right methodology, and the right level of ambition that ultimately delivers meaningful gains in efficiency.
